Retro. Whimsical. Colorful. Fun! Our photo shoot was inspired by Zooey Deschanel and her playfully pretty style with a retro feel. The project united a team of wedding professionals who set out to give brides original and off-beat ideas for their own special day. It was such a treat to collaborate with Ever SwoonG! DesignsAlison Dulaney and Shindig to create our concept. Our goal was to find a look that was adorkable and glamorous at the same time!

We are thrilled to be featured on Ruffled!

Dolly Couture provided two darling weddings dresses that made us jump for JOY! This one with pink polka dots inspired a circle theme that we carried through with a ball of carnations, a bun hairstyle, round save-the-dates and confetti-covered wedding cake!

Our color palette includes hot pink and turquoise with dashes of gold, soft pink, and tangerine.

The invitation is printed on canvas and mounted on wood. Retro-style line art silhouettes of the bride and groom are used throughout all the paper goods.

A dress like this just makes you want to dance!

Colonie, a quaint restaurant in Brooklyn Heights, provided the perfect backdrop with its exposed brick walls, deep wood hues, original paned windows, and metal topped bar.

Simple touches like candlestick vases and stitched together paper garland are inexpensive DIY projects that add a unique flair.

Circular note cards for guests to hang transforms a blank wall into a decorative element and adds an interactive space for guests to write a message to the couple.

In keeping with our retro feel, it was only natural to add some retro desserts, including homemade snowballs along with boxed cupcakes and Twinkies. This photo shoot took place just days before Hostess announced it would no longer be producing these cakey favorites! We felt lucky to be able to include them!

“I love you more than TWINKIES!”

Love+Brain captured all the magic on film!

  1. […] You may be wondering, What is a styled shoot? Styled wedding shoots have become very popular as a way for professionals to showcase their work, try new and interesting things that they want to share with their clients, update their portfolio, and network. The team comes together with the plan to trade their services and products for photos and press. This is not a real wedding, but we hope it give couples inspiration. It is a lot of hard work, but it is very rewarding and a lot of fun. The last styled shoot I did had a whimsical retro theme. Check it out here! […]
