Chloe and Glen are romantics. They love Brooklyn and they love Paris.
They have been living in Brooklyn for seven years and love walking and running through Prospect Park. Part of the charm in this Brooklyn park is the arch and the fountain at Grand Army Plaza, which feels like a little piece of Paris right along Flatbush Avenue.
We started their engagement session at the Prospect Park boat house and ended the day at Grand Army Plaza.
Glen shares the story of how they met, “Chloe and I met one Saturday night in January 2008 during our first year as students at Brooklyn Law School. We were both part of a group of friends that went to go see a college basketball game together. As a group, we took a crowded subway train from Brooklyn all the way up to Columbia and Chloe and I somehow ended up in a different train car from everybody else. We had a long subway ride so Chloe and I decided to play 20 questions to pass the time– I won, of course (the answer was Ruth Bader Ginsberg, classic). We had a great time together and instantly hit it off!
Over the next two and half years, Chloe and I became close friends, spending a lot of time exploring Brooklyn and cooking up every delight Trader Joe’s has to offer. It wasn’t until May 2010 that we took the next step and finally started dating. I took Chloe on a classic first date of dinner and a movie. We had such a wonderful time that by dessert I told Chloe she was my girlfriend and she did not object. The rest is history.”
Glen popped the question in Paris! He shares, “After three years of dating, Chloe and I wanted to take a big trip together, and chose to go to Paris in August 2013. All of Chloe’s friends and co-workers were chatting in her ear about how I was going to propose in Paris, but I played it cool.
Our trip was 10 days and on the second to last night, after lots of great sightseeing and soaking in the French culture (and after Chloe had given up on me proposing since she expected it early on), I planned a romantic dinner cruise on the Seine River. We had a lovely three course meal (with lots of champagne), and as the wait staff was serving dessert, our waiter brought a silver platter to our table with Chloe’s engagement ring. The waiter lifted the lid off the platter and Chloe was shocked not to see the cake she ordered! I got down on one knee and asked Chloe to marry me as the ship cruised past the Eiffel Tower just in time for the 11 p.m. illumination.”
Chloe and Glen will be getting married in May 2015 at the Hilton in Pearl River, New York, which, fittingly, has the look of a French château!
Congratulations Chloe and Glen on your engagement!
