Meet sweet little baby Samuel. He was born this spring to very happy parents, Amanda and Eric.

Amanda shares, “Samuel Eric Wechtler was born 4-4-15 after 42 weeks of gestation and 51 hours of labor. When he finally entered this world, we learned that the “small” baby we were told for weeks to expect was anything but small at 9lbs 1oz and 20 inches!

Eric and I have been excited about starting a family since we began dating, however, we struggled the entire pregnancy to come up with a name. Even in the delivery room all the doctors and nurses were chiming in between pushes with names to give him as punishment for the long labor…these included Horace, Clifford, Archibald, etc…while quite entertaining at the time none of these fit.  After two days of life and getting to know our little man and him being everything we prayed for, we settled on the name Samuel after the scripture 1 Samuel 1:27 ” For this child I prayed, and the Lord answered my prayers.” Samuel’s middle name is Eric, after his father and following in a tradition from the Wechtler family.

At six weeks old, Samuel already has quite the personality, as demonstrated during the photo session. He is a morning person who smiles and laughs from about 4:30am until 10:00am. He is a bit grumpier in the afternoon! He loves being outside, just like his mom and dad – so when he is upset we just have to get him into the fresh air and all is right in the world. It’s a blessing to live in the city and be able to walk everywhere. We love to visit botanical gardens or the sculpture garden or just walk to some of the local parks on Capitol Hill and enjoy some sunshine! We are looking forward to getting him to the zoo and on some short hikes in the near future. We love every day with him and watching him grow. The time is going so fast already, but we are so excited for every new moment of this adventure called parenthood.”
