I met Kate and Justin at a favorite place of theirs, Meyer Ranch Park, where there are big beautiful groves of aspen trees. The yellow was brilliant and one of the last places we could see the gorgeous fall leaves.

Kate shares, “Justin and I have known about each other since the sixth grade and became a part of the same friend group in early high school. We dated other people, we hung out within our group, we skirted around each other until something changed. Towards the end of senior year we were making excuses to hang out more and more until I finally asked him on a date. So we went to Applebee’s because Justin had a gift card, and saw the Kingsman movie. Super romantic, right?! (Haha) That cold and clear March night we had our first kiss next to my beat-up, old, blue Ford Bronco under the stars and sparks flew. I still think about that kiss sometimes.

We thought it would be a summer fling then we would both be off to different colleges. But we stuck together. We made the two-hour haul back and forth between Fort Collins and Denver nearly every weekend for five years to be with each other and had mini adventures every time. Whether it was seeing movies, searching for Hot Wheels treasure hunts, watching Av’s games or even doing nothing at all, we laughed and grew together.  It became clear pretty quickly that we fit together seamlessly and our relationship felt so natural and good. That’s really the best word to describe our relationship: Good. That simple, comfortable word and every time I look at Justin I’m wrapped in that warm emotion and reminded that life together is good.

After college, living together, and being together for over six years, I was certainly tapping my foot waiting for the question to be popped. I had a feeling it would happen soon, but I didn’t know when.

July 4, 2021, started like a normal summer holiday. We spent the morning soaking up the sun by our apartment’s pool, went out to a burger place for lunch, and made our way to a local park to play some catch and hang out. I should’ve known something was up when Justin wore a button-up shirt to simply play catch at a park and especially when he asked about our favorite memories together over burgers and fries. I answered something like “The time we went to Mexico” and “Going to game 5 of the Avalanche playoffs against the Flames where we won in OT” and “Oh! Our first kiss. That was a good one.”

Eventually, we made our way down to this pier and with an epic sky half covered in dark rain clouds and half bright in sunshine, Justin pulled out a ring and got down on one knee. He says afterwards that he had all these cool things he planned to say but all that went blank and he just said, “You are my best friend and I love you so much. Will you marry me?” It was perfect.

Our story is not a “love at first sight” story. Meeting in the awkward phase in middle school made sure of that. It was a gradually growing friendship that took a chance and immediately felt right. Almost seven years later, I am more in love than ever with my best friend and looking forward to a beautiful, laughter filled, good life together.”

Congratulations Kate and Justin!

Noelle and Patrick love the aspen trees! We went to the Kenosha Pass area to capture them in all their glory for their engagement session.

Noelle and Patrick met in Denver in March 2017, introduced by a mutual friend (and future maid of honor). Patrick was new to town and their relationship flourished as they bonded enjoying the beautiful outdoors in Colorado.

Noelle shares, “Fast forward to July 2021 when Patrick and I were back in my hometown of Babylon, NY, enjoying a casual walk to town to meet my parents for dinner. Patrick popped down on one knee and proposed at the local docks. Surrounded by my family in the town I grew up in–I couldn’t have been more excited.

The big day is scheduled for October 15, 2022, at the Loeb Boathouse in Central Park in NYC. Patrick and I will be thrilled to be joined by our families and friends to tie the knot and begin the next chapter of our lives together as Mr. & Mrs. Blusanovics!”

Congratulations Noelle and Patrick!

Sarah and William came to visit Colorado from Atlanta and celebrate their engagement!

William shares, “Our lives intersected because of a shared interest. We met while taking part in the same powerlifting group. The group met a few nights a week and there was never a shortage of laughs between the two of us. It wasn’t until the program eventually ended that we started spending time with each other outside the gym. It was immediately apparent what a great connection we had. Not long after, me, Sarah, and her two cute rambunctious dachshunds moved to our own place in a quiet neighborhood in Smyrna, GA. As time has passed we’ve started building plans for our future and have decided to officially tie the knot in November. We can’t wait for our wedding and will be celebrating with our close friends and family for a garden ceremony and reception in Decatur, Georgia.

Who knows where we are heading next, but we’ve been eyeing the mountains of Colorado for our next home. We wanted to explore the area further and took the opportunity to have our engagement photos taken with the beautiful backdrop of Evergreen Lake.”

Happy engagement Sarah and William!

I met the couple in the main parking lot of the Garden of the Gods loop while raindrops poured down on our windshields. There was a chance of rain in the forecast, but it was a small chance and we decided to go for it. I’m so glad we did! Even though it was looking bleak for a little while, we could see some blue sky in the distance, which eventually opened up to a beautiful evening.

When the rain stopped it had made all the colors more vibrant, greens looked super lush and the sky became so dramatic.

The bride-to-be shares, “We’re traveling and visiting friends in Colorado and decided to take some engagement photos to capture the scenery we can’t get on the East Coast. So far on the trip our favorites have been Pikes Peak, Paint Mines Interpretive Park, Rocky Mountain National Park and all the good food in the Denver area.”

Congratulations, you two!

Ellen and Mitch met at CU Boulder and knew they wanted to plan their engagement session in Chautauqua, surrounded by the Boulder Flatirons.

The couple met when Ellen and her roommate Leah (who will be their officiant) were looking for a roommate at CU Boulder. Mitch ended up moving in and their friendship turned into a lot more.

Ellen shares, “One of our first dates was at the Denver Aquarium as I love sharks and I’m definitely a beach girl. One of my favorite things about Mitch is how kind and fun he is. He is always willing to go do something around town or with friends. Mitch says his favorite things about me are how caring, funny, and goofy I am.

Our engagement happened on a COVID birthday trip. We decided to go camping as something fun to do over my birthday. I am very big into celebrating my birthday. There were a couple of iconic Colorado hikes we were interested in doing. We got day passes to Maroon Bells and went super early to be the first couple of people to hike the trails. Getting up this early came at the insistence of Mitch. I didn’t realize at the time why he was pushing to get up so early, but he was able to propose at the top of the hike with no one else around. I was definitely not someone who wanted a big, public proposal so it was the perfect intimate setting for us.

We are not people who go over the top on a lot of things. We knew we wanted a smaller wedding in a cool place. We decided against a destination wedding as that seemed too much to coordinate. We choose the Milk Market/Dairy Block since that is one of our very favorite spots in Denver. The food, atmosphere and shopping all in that one block are just so fun and we definitely love the city.”

We also drove up Flagstaff Mountain to get some beautiful photos at Lost Gulch Overlook. The panoramic view is incredible!

Happy engagement Ellen and Mitch!
