When winter won’t seem to end and I miss my super cute nephew who lives about 500 miles away it is time to head south. We traveled to Miami for some sunshine and family time. The best part was seeing my son, Ollie, play with his cousin, Austin. Two terribly wonderful two-year-olds caused some commotion on Miami Beach!

Check out a slideshow with some fun iphone photos and more from our trip.

While we were there my very talented friend Brandi Toole took some family photos for us!

I’m feeling so joyful and grateful for my wonderful family and this season of love, fun and magic. Watching Ollie’s eyes light up when we turn on the tree or share a cookie makes me love Christmas even more.

I procrastinated this year with planning a family photo shoot. We went out to Central Park in late November with our tripod and remote shutter to take some Christmas card photos. I had very low expectations thinking that Ollie would never look at the camera or smile or perhaps even sit with us! We got super lucky. He loves buttons and was very interested in the camera. Once it started clicking from the remote shutter he thought it was so cool! Haha! A little Christmas magic came early. He is constantly reminding me to enjoy and find excitement in the tiniest things.

And we can’t forget Josie. She did end up getting some cookie crumbs!

Happy holidays, everyone!

Chihuly’s delicate blown glass sculptures dispersed through the greenery and blooms in the New York Botanical Garden? Count me in! My husband, my mom, and I were able to snag some nighttime tickets to see the pieces illuminated and it was fantastic. If you have a chance you should definitely go! The fragility of the glass and massive explosions of color are magic. Details at the NYBG, on exhibit through October 29.

I have so many photos of Ollie it is hard to choose which ones to share. I take many photos of him every single day! But I also don’t want my blog to be overwhelmed with baby photos. I want to share bits of my life with the couples and friends I work with throughout the years, so here are a few favorites from this summer. Enjoy!

Happy 4th of July from Ollie and his cousin, Austin!

We love spending the afternoon in Central Park. Even though we live in NYC, where space is limited, we have the biggest most wonderful back yard!

This year has been amazing. We’ve watched our baby grow into a sweet, silly, giggly little boy. He was born on Easter weekend and took a trip home in a taxi to our apartment on the Upper West Side. In his first year he has done so much! He has visited family, spent a lot of time in Central Park, took trips to Maryland, Virginia, Miami and North Carolina, visited the American Museum of Natural History, the Zoo, and the library, watched the Macy’s Day Parade floats pass by, and had some fancy meals out where he decided guacamole is his favorite food. He loves to dance, point, wave, clap and he tries very hard to snap. Boxes are the best. Socks are the worst. And Josie is his best friend. Life is good!

We had a little party for him in Maryland and shared some of our favorite photos in a slideshow. I’m excited to also share it here. It’s long, but hey, it’s a whole year!

As a mom, who is also a professional photographer, I have taken more than my fair share of photos of him. I just hope that as he continues to grow he likes to look at the photos and I don’t hear “No mom, not another one!” too often.

For his birthday he got to have cake for the first time. His Grammy and I made him a funfetti cake to SMASH!

He immediately went into the bathtub.

This birthday was so much fun! I hope that every year he has more and more to celebrate.

I had never thought of birthdays this way until I had Ollie, but I feel like it is a big accomplishment for me and Eric that Ollie is one. We made it. We survived a year of parenthood! And we ate cake too… 🙂
