Leanne and Will were married in a council ring beneath a canopy of trees at the Prince William Forest Park.
“We love the outdoors and go camping/backpacking regularly, so we loved being able to incorporate that by having the wedding in a National Park, having a tree seating chart with leaves as place holders, and having nature’s colors – blue, brown and green as our colors. We loved being out under the stars!” -The Bride
The couple carefully selected their favorite things to be a part of their day: delicious barbecue and pie.
“We chose pie from mom’s apple pie since they get fruit from local farmers and freeze it to make pies throughout the year, just like we do. We tried to select vendors that are small family run businesses, which was a conscious choice. We used biodegradable silverware, plates and cups made from corn starch, trying to be environmentally friendly.”
Leanne and Will choose some unique and beautiful music to celebrate their day, “Our first dance was The Curse by Josh Ritter (if you read the lyrics it’s perhaps not the most romantic, but it was a beautiful tune). The other songs from our ceremony were Sweet Pea by Amos Lee and Make You Feel My Love by Adele.”
As night fell the celebration traded trees for a canopy of starry lights.

Leanne on her amazing finds, “The earrings came from a trip to South Africa (where Will and I met), the cuff links from Will’s trip to Venice, the necklace, rings and hair decorations came from Etsy – we found Etsy to be very affordable and unique. It was a family affair – Will’s mom made the table runners and the pillow covers. We enlisted the help of Will’s sister in law to do the invitations and my hair and makeup. The garter belt on the bouquet came from my aunt, from when she was married 50 years ago and the kerchief on the bouquet from a friend who received it from her great-grandmother. Our friends were instrumental in helping us with ideas and in setting it all up. We couldn’t’ have done it without them. Most of the other decorations we purchased off of craigslist (the overhead lights, lanterns, chalkboards) – it’s amazing how many ideas you can get from there! and other incidentals came from Martha’s Table (a major charity and thrift store in DC), which is near our house – they would even put items aside that they knew we were looking for! I guess our wedding was a bit of a community event!”
