Erin and Kevin were married at the Dahlgren Chapel of the Sacred Heart at Georgetown University. But first, Erin and her bridesmaids got ready in the Georgetown Hotel with help from Emily Huggins Makeup.
Erin’s Mom gave her this very special rosary along with some family heirlooms just before the ceremony.
Erin picked the perfect song, “One of the things I really loved was walking down the aisle to The Beach Boys “God Only Knows.” It is one of my favorite songs, but I was worried about being able to us it in a mass. Luckily, I am pretty sure Fr. Steck thought it was a hymn, so he didn’t stop us! Don’t tell him though : )”
A note from the bride, “Dahlgren wouldn’t allow the flower girls to throw petals, so Kevin and I decided to do something a little different: in each wedding invitation, we included a blank heart for guests to write their wishes for the bride and groom. We turned the wishes into the wreath. Some of the wishes were good advice (“Cherish is the word”), some were the unsolicited suggestions all married couples get (“Start procreating IMMEDIATELY”), and some revealed which guests are simply terrible at following directions (“I hope you have good cake at the reception.”) Kevin and I loved reading all the little notes as the invitation started coming in.”
Many GU alums were in attendance and took part in a group shot with the beloved mascot, Jack the bulldog.
Portraits were taken around the Chapel and then by the water at the reception location, Collingwood Library and Museum. The Collingwood Mansion and land was once part of George Washington’s River Farm.
I love these portraits of Erin and her dad, because it gave them a moment just to themselves.
Between the mascot, Jack the bulldog, and Erin and Kevin’s sweet little pooch, Rosey, it was easy to see this couple LOVES dogs. And lucky for me… I do too!
Erin and Kevin’s wedding included an ambulance. Not to worry! The couple met during the GERMS (Georgetown Emergency Response Medical Service) training program at Georgetown University. I have never shot an ambulance before, this was a fun and unique addition!
A vintage style photo booth made for lots of fun at the reception.
I was lucky to meet Erin and Kevin (and their adorable “fur child” Rosey) during their engagement shoot in May. They had a beautiful wedding with many unique and memorable moments. Congratulations Erin and Kevin!
