On a gorgeous day in late September Svetlana and Scott were married in a garden full of colorful flowers at Mrs. K’s Tollhouse in Silver Spring, MD.
The bride says, “We could not be happier and more blessed to have met each other. We grew up in different parts of the world. I am from Russia and my husband was born and raised in Maryland. We had completely different upbringings, educations, religious backgrounds, and friends…. yet it is so amazing how similar we are and how we have the same dreams and aspirations!”
Svetlana’s family traveled from Russia to walk her down the aisle.
The outdoor oasis made for an elegant ceremony and a relaxed cocktail hour on the large patio.
All of the bouquets and centerpieces were lovely. I was amazed to learn that the bride made them all herself! When I asked her about it she said, “My aunt is a florist in Russia. As a child I loved spending all my time with her and watching her make amazing arrangements. When I decided to do all my own wedding flower arrangements, I knew I needed to give her a call! After a few trips to a craft store I was ready.”
The couple was so happy to have everyone together, “It was especially meaningful to see a room filled with people who loved us and were thrilled to see each of us so happy; all to witness the beginning of a long life of love, commitment, and adventures to come.”
Mrs. K’s Tollhouse is a really unique venue, converted into a restaurant from a Tollhouse in 1930. The house is divided into many dining rooms and still maintains its historic pinewood floors and includes Benjamin Franklin era novelties. The entire lower level is a dining area encompassed by an incredible wine cellar.
