I met Regina and Jason in Queens for their engagement shoot. This pair is full of charm, love, laughter and free-spirited energy. Regina works as an account manager at Rakuten Marketing, she has a passion for theater and was born and raised in Manila, Philippines. Jason is a high school teacher, writer, stop action filmmaker and “all around sci-fi geek” from Queens. They met in the winter of 2011.
Jason shares, “On our first date, she mistook me for the bouncer. I was standing in front of the now closed Cooper 35, giving a couple of tourists directions to the subway, when she approached me and asked me if I was her date. But that’s not really where our story begins. Flashback a month before, a week or two before Halloween–I was halfheartedly looking through the profiles on my OKCupid account when I came across her’s and sent her a message. For a month, due to busy schedules, we wrote back and forth to each other, eventually agreeing to go on our blind date. “Jason?” she asked as I finished giving the directions. “Regina?” I responded, smiling. We went inside and enjoyed a five hour date, the longest either of us had ever been on. Though we had just met, the conversation flowed as easy as the martinis we were drinking. The night only ended when Regina had lost her voice–the date was during hell week for rehearsals for the musical she was in, “Sweet Charity.” I kissed her on the cheek, put her in a cab and texted her almost immediately. I knew then I had found someone special.”
Jason proposed during a special anniversary dinner. Regina shares, “He made all the preparations and said he wanted to surprise me with the place. He took me to One If By Land, Two If By Sea for dinner, and when I asked why he chose the place, he just said “You’ll find out in a second.” Jason ordered a celebratory bottle of champagne for our anniversary, and before ordering our food, he said he wanted to toast us first. He had an awesome speech about how much he loved me and it ended with “Will you marry me?” while he was down on one knee. I said yes, and it was like a scene from the movies with the restaurant applauding. And then I ate delicious beef wellington on top of the perfect proposal, yay!”
Regina loves confetti. So she had to bring some for the shoot!
Queens is a very special place for the couple. We took some fun photos at a pretty little park in Elmhurst, Queens.
Regina and Jaosn will be married this June at the Penthouse 808 at the Ravel Hotel in Long Island City. I can’t wait to photograph their wedding!
