This spring I took a trip to London. It was wonderful! I’ll be posting more about it soon. While I was visiting, I really wanted to plan a photo session. I was lucky enough to get in touch with Lyn and Vikki, newlyweds who live in the city of dreams.

We walked all over the place, starting in Trafalgar Square in front of the National Gallery.

Our next stop was the beautiful St. James Park.

Lyn shares, “Vikki and I met at a small pub, where I challenged her to a few games of pool. She proceeded to win 4 out of 5 games (I want to say that I let her win, but that would be an outright lie, and I’ve spent the last 5 years trying to regain some respect in the game!), and we spent the remainder of the evening chatting and getting to know each other. Later on, we ended up going dragon boating on the Thames River quite by chance when both of us were invited by separate friends to form a team. We took things very slow, and we were friends for about a year before we decided to date properly.

I proposed on Valentine’s Day 2014, as it happened to fall on the last day of Chinese New Year, which is also Chinese Valentine’s Day. This coincidence will not happen again for another 20 years! I put the ring in a Japanese puzzle box, thinking it would give me some time to tell her how I felt about her, winding up to the proposal that I had been planning for the last few months. You would think that I would have learned my lesson from our first meeting to never underestimate Vikki, but I didn’t. She had the box almost open in about 3 minutes flat, by which time I panicked, babbled something about how she was the most amazing person I had met, and instead of falling on one knee as planned, I was on both my knees when I popped the question! Smooth…

Our wedding was very much a labor of love, as we combined both our cultures, Chinese and Scottish. Vikki wore a cheongsam-inspired wedding dress, and I wore a kilt. We had a tea ceremony following our official ceremony, and we took great trouble to ensure that haggis was on the menu for the wedding breakfast. We hand made as much as we could, including our invitations, the wedding cake, and the bridal bouquets – which totaled 200 hand-folded origami roses!

It’s been 5 fantastic months since we’ve been married, and we are now looking to buy our first home which will be our next exciting adventure!”
