Alexandra and Richard traveled from Florida for a romantic New York City elopement at City Hall.
Alex shares, “Richard is from England and lives in Melbourne, Australia. I am from Nicaragua and live in Miami. This is how our story began.
We met in Miami on March 14, 2014, while Richard was on holiday visiting family. I was immediately attracted to his charming smile and witty personality. He surprised me by saying the only word in Spanish that he knew, bombero, or fireman in English. That sparked conversation and we spent the rest of the night talking about random things like music, politics and what life was like in Australia. I could have talked to him all night just to hear his accent. A few days later, on St. Patrick’s Day, we met again at a local Irish bar. On that night, after more chit chatting and exchanging Facebook requests, we said goodbye like a pair of teenagers on their first date.
After a couple of days, I received a message from my new Facebook friend saying he was home safe and sound. I was thrilled to hear from him! We messaged each other every day for two months until he returned to Miami, where we spent an amazing week together. We found it impossible to not give this long-distance relationship a try and after a year of dating and many trans-Pacific trips between us, Richard proposed on a beautiful sunset evening in Naples, Florida. It was one of the best moments of our lives!”
Alex continues, “We wanted a very intimate yet memorable wedding, so we decided to elope to New York with our parents in tow.
At last, we are excited to start sharing our lives together on one continent, one country, one city, one home with our four dogs; Kip, Murphy, Sam and George.”
Congratulations Alex and Richard!
