Shelby and Lawrence decided to elope! We turned their engagement session into a celebration photo shoot.
Shelby shares, “Lawrence and I met back when we were both in college. Looking back, it seems almost like fate that we sat next to each other. After two and a half years together (and two apartments, four foster animals, six escape rooms, and countless puzzles), Lawrence proposed at Brooklyn Bridge Park.
We began planning a traditional wedding, but we soon realized neither of us enjoys the spotlight nor the pomp and circumstance of a big event, and were happily married at City Hall with only our parents and my brother in attendance. Although it was a considerable downsizing from our original plan, we felt that such a small, intimate wedding was exactly what we were looking for.
A big wedding isn’t for everyone and I feel so grateful I have a (permanent!!!) partner who was willing to marry me, whether in the grand Plaza Hotel or a tiny chapel at City Hall.”
I think this is my favorite photo from their session. As we were getting ready to take some photos in this busy area along the water, the waves suddenly crashed right at our feet. I love these expressions on Shelby and Lawrence’s faces.
Congratulations Shelby and Lawrence!
