I met Alyssa and Alix at Lookout Mountain on a beautiful spring evening. We had so much fun enjoying the views and the fresh Colorado air.
Alyssa shares the story of how they met, “Crazy enough we graduated from the same high school in Michigan, but we were a few years apart. Alix moved to Colorado 10 years ago and we only ran into each other once in all those years. Just last year I reached out to him to congratulate him on winning his first professional MMA fight. We had a brief catching up via text and that was it. Fast forward a few months later to 4th of July weekend and we just so happened to be in the same northern Michigan town with our families for the holiday. We met up at a hole-in-the wall bar… and, well, the rest is history. We spent the next 4 days together before he had to head back to Colorado. We did long distance for 6 months before I made the move to Colorado in February 2025.”
Alix decided to propose during the holiday season. Alyssa shares, “Alix was home in Michigan for the holidays. The day after Christmas he told me to dress nice because he wanted to take me out. We went to Frankenmuth which is a Christmas Wonderland most of the year. We had a nice dinner and then took a stroll to look at the lights. As we were crossing a bridge he made the move and got down on one knee – little did I know he had been in cahoots with my best friend who followed us there and hid in a bush to capture the special moment!”
When I asked them what they love about each other this is what they shared:
Alix: “I love the way you love me.”
Alyssa: “I love that I get to spend the rest of my life loving my best friend. Alix is honestly such an amazing person with the biggest heart, I can’t wait to call him my husband. As cliché as it is I truly feel like the luckiest girl in the world.”
The couple plans to get married in the spring of 2026 somewhere in the mountains with their closest friends and family. Alyssa continues, “We are aiming for a laid-back, outdoorsy mountain feel and of course will be having an after party/reception back home in Michigan with all of our people.”
Alyssa shares, “Iris is our 10-year-old baby girl. Alix adopted her when she was 1 and for years it was just them – we’ve had such a special bond since the moment I came into their lives and she recently officially became my emotional support animal, couldn’t ask for a better pup.”
