I met Hannah and Nat in Central park for their engagement session. It was a beautiful fall day!
You guys are so much fun! Hannah, when I look at this picture I can still hear you laughing.
Nat shares, “I met Hannah two summers ago through a blind date set up by a friend of a friend. This was a truly blind date, with neither of us having even looked at the other’s Facebook profile (we both have generic last names, and I didn’t even know what hers was at the time). Immediately after we started talking, I knew Hannah was special. Sure enough, what was planned to be just drinks turned into a four+ hour dinner – and neither of us have looked back since. We both soon felt as though we’d known each other far longer than we actually had, and it wasn’t long before I knew Hannah was the one I wanted to spend the rest of my life with. I’ve always felt completely comfortable around her, and she’s so warm and loving and has such a big heart that I well up now just thinking about it.”
Hannah remembers being very nervous for their first date, “Luckily, Nat didn’t seem to notice that my hands were shaking and that I almost spilled my beer. We had planned to meet for a drink at a bar by his office. One drink turned into dinner, which turned to dessert and the next thing I knew we had been talking for 5 hours. I had never felt so comfortable with anyone on first meeting them. It turned out that he was reading my favorite book, he made me laugh, was sweet, and the conversation was some of the easiest I’ve ever had. We talked about everything from our top names for dogs to my beloved banana costume. I could have talked to him all night. As I got on the subway I remember having a very odd feeling that I was going to marry him. A few months into dating, that feeling only intensified. Needless to say I was pretty pumped when I found out that Nat felt the same way.”
Nat continues, “By next February, I had bought the engagement ring and knew I wanted to propose not long after. Since I am terrible at keeping secrets, Hannah knew both that I’d bought the ring and that I’d soon be asking her dad for his blessing. Still, I wanted the proposal to come as a surprise in some way. The very day I’d gotten her dad’s blessing, I left work to get dinner with some friends. On the bus ride home, I thought to myself – Hmm, I’ve got the ring, I’ve got the blessing – why wait? I’ll propose the minute I get home. It’ll be a surprise for her because it’ll be one for me too! After making me do it over*, she said yes. I love her with all my heart, and I always will.
*Hannah was quick to point out that my initial proposal was “Will you make me the happiest guy in the world?” and so not technically one of marriage. I quickly rectified it.”
Happy engagement Hannah and Nat!
