Guten tag! Eric and I took a trip to Austria and Germany in May for 11 days. I went CRAZY taking photos! I can’t wait to share them. Everything is so beautiful and enchanting, and I felt like we had stepped right into a fairy tale.

I usually reserve my blog for wedding and engagement photos, but I’m excited to share this personal post of some recent travel.

Our trip began in Salzburg, Austria. Such a charming city, I fell in love with it right away!

We had such wonderful food: spaetzle noodles, Wienerschnitzel, pretzels, bratwurst, apple strudel. I also tried a red wine I had never heard of and now it’s one of my favorites: Zweigelt (pronounced TSVYE-gelt). I’ll hold off on sharing all the photos of me with wine glasses in my hand.  ; )

Travel to Salzburg, Austria

One of my favorite things in Salzburg was the Mirabell Palace and Gardens. You may recognize this fountain–it was in the Sound of Music!

Another main attraction in Salzburg is Mozart’s birthplace.

Just about every evening there is a Mozart concert in the fortress. We were lucky enough to hear some of his most notable orchestrations within the walls of this medieval building.

Salzburg Fortress travel

We took the funicular up to the Fortress Hohensalzburg Castle and had an incredible view of Old Town Salzburg. Construction of the fortress began in 1077!

Eric and I went to Paris for our honeymoon in 2007, but we have never been anywhere else in Europe. Austria and Germany are amazing! But you may wonder why we chose to go there next. It was a celebration trip for my dad’s 60th birthday! My mom asked him of all the places he has gone or has wanted to go, what he would like to do for his big 6-0. Without a second thought, he said he wanted to see the Alps again and go back to Germany. Since I was little he has talked about the amazing Neuschwanstein castle (coming up in my next blog post!).

I would love to share more photos of my parents with you, but my dad prefers to keep his photos offline. He did, however, agree that the back of his head was okay. So here goes…

Austria was the first stop on our trip. Coming soon: Next we went to Lake Königssee and took a boat ride surrounded by the Alps and traveled to Hohenschwangau to see three more castles!

Auf Wiedersehen!
