Caitlin and David were married on a beautiful day in May at the Holy Trinity Church in Georgetown. The day began with Caitlin and her bridesmaids getting ready at her apartment.

Before the ceremony, we took an Uber to the Lincoln Memorial for some fun photos with just the girls. Caitlin explains, “What many people don’t realize about a wedding day is that a big portion of the day is actually spent without the groom. Because of this, I am blessed and thankful that I had THE BEST bridesmaids. They kept the entire time leading up to the ceremony fun and relaxing, while making sure I kept my eye on the prize.”

Caitlin shares the story of how she and David met, “Just before David returned to Notre Dame for a one-year MBA program in May 2009, a co-worker of his insisted he would meet and start dating an undergrad. Of course, David scoffed at this idea and adamantly told his co-worker he was ‘Too mature to date an undergrad.’ However, after only being back at school for a couple of days, David of course met that undergrad heading into her senior year at Saint Mary’s College! After many group hangouts at tailgates and trivia nights, he finally worked up the courage to officially ask me to be his date to a wedding in December 2009…and we all know how that story circled back around!”

David got ready for the wedding day at a nearby hotel and then the guys headed to the church.

David shares, “When I saw Sully (David calls Caitlin Sully) walking down the aisle, I took a deep breathe and thought to myself, ‘Wow, I am one lucky man.'”

Throughout the ceremony David remembers, “Not feeling nervousness, but rather comfort at the altar, being there with Sully, just acting like ourselves, whispering jokes, made everything feel just right.”

One of Caitlin’s favorite moments was their first kiss, she says “Because of our height difference (David is almost a foot taller than I am) he loves picking me up at all times and places. So right before our first kiss, when David leaned in and whispered ‘Can I pick you up?,’ everything felt right, genuine, and us.”

Donuts almost got in the way of the proposal! Caitlin shares, “On a Saturday morning in May 2014, David and I planned to wake up early and take a walk. After David convinced me to drop my quest to walk to Dunkin’ Donuts, we headed towards the Netherlands Carillon. This is one of our favorite spots to visit since you can see all of DC’s monuments from this location, and it is surrounded by hundreds of tulips in the spring.

As we were enjoying the view, David started talking about how special this spot was to us. At that point, he got down on one knee and popped the question! As I stood there shocked and speechless, he pulled out a typed itinerary entitled ‘David and Sully’s Engagement Weekend’ that laid out the weekend’s celebratory activities that included a couple’s massage, dinner and drinks at the Capella Hotel, and a night at the Ritz in Georgetown. Needless to say, I’m glad I begrudgingly agreed not to walk to Dunkin’ that morning, as it turned out to be one of the most memorable and romantic weekends ever!”

One year later they said “I Do!”

The reception was held on the rooftop of 101 Constitution.

David shares, “Ending our first dance and jumping into the Notre Dame Fight Song was the perfect way to honor our Notre Dame/Saint Mary’s crew that surrounded us at the wedding, and epitomizes us and our love for the Irish!” His favorite part of the day was, “Seeing Sully beaming throughout the day and evening was the highlight of the day for me!”

The internet is an incredible thing. Cammy and Josh found me online while looking for a wedding photographer, but we actually live only one black away from each other! They are an awesome couple and I was so happy to meet them!

We met in Central Park for their engagement session.

Cammy shares, “Josh and I met a few months after graduating college, at Ernst & Young in Washington, DC. I started in July, two weeks before he did, and was pretty shy and kept to myself.  Once Josh started, he made me feel at ease – he was always friendly and easy to talk to.  It wasn’t until a few months in that I began to realize we shared a similar silly quality. I don’t remember why, but we were given little blue stress toys shaped like people.  Josh named his Jade, and I named mine Don Juan. As Jade and Don Juan embarked on a secret office romance, I began to look at Josh in a different light.

One evening that fall, I baked a pumpkin pie and Josh came over to my apartment to have some.  There’s still some debate as to whether he invited himself over, or whether I invited him, but either way we had a great time getting to know each other better over pie, and the rest is pretty much history. Josh came over a few times afterward and he taught me the Superman dance by Soulja Boy, and watched America’s Next Top Model with me (his choice, I swear!).  We went on our first official date on December 1st at Lauriol Plaza in DC. We were seated in the crappiest section of the restaurant, which was the first of a very common occurrence for us (I guess we don’t come off as the type of people you’d want to seat in the front of your restaurant for all to see).

We managed to keep our romance a secret from our other colleagues for (what I’d like to think was) two and a half years, until I left the company to move to New York in Spring of 2010. More realistically though, they had all figured it out by the time I left.

Josh has inspired me in a number of ways. He’s brought out an adventurous side of me that I never knew existed before we started dating. I love traveling to beautiful and interesting places with him (most recently Hawaii and Iceland – not on the same trip), and doing exhilarating activities like zip-lining and hiking into a dormant volcano. He also inspired me to start running, and helped me realize there’s actually a sport out there that I’m not terrible at! I also love trying new restaurants with Josh and can count on him to pick places we’ll both love. If not for him, I’d probably be eating at Red Lobster in Times Square on a weekly basis.

After Cammy wrote some information for my blog, Josh decided to add in some of this thoughts.
Josh’s shares, “Cammy’s entry covers our story pretty well with some exceptions:
1) Unlike us, Don Juan and Jade did not have a secret romance, and
2) I was raised too well to have invited myself over even for something as delicious as pumpkin pie.

But the biggest thing that she left out is that the inspiration in our relationship is something that goes both ways. Cammy constantly inspires me with her intelligence and her drive. She makes me want to be the best person I can be.  If not for myself then for her. Over the years she’s been my best friend, making me smile and laugh and giving me the ‘real talk’ when I need to hear it.  I really feel that we bring out the best in each other (although I may have brought out too much in her running abilities because she’s starting to beat me). Its been so much fun trying new things with Cammy, such as traveling to new locations and trying new foods, and I’m looking forward to having a lifetime to make new memories.”

Cammy adds, “Josh proposed in November of 2013, and his proposal involved three of my favorite things: (1) sushi, (2) Josh and (3) wine (the bottle of wine was made by Josh Cellars). We took our time picking the venue and date, but I’m very excited with the location of the place we landed on. We’re getting married on September 26th at Penthouse 808 in Long Island City. The restaurant overlooks the East River and Queensboro Bridge and has beautiful views of the Manhattan skyline.”

Happy engagement Cammy and Josh!

Tracy and Enis met on the first day of her new job. Tracy remembers thinking, “He’s cute. Wonder where his accent is from. Note to self: Google Albania later….”

Tracy shares their proposal story, “We got engaged on September 2, 2014 in Nice, France. I told Enis I wanted it to be a surprise. I had no idea he was going to propose when we went on vacation. The day before he proposed, he asked me if I wanted to drive to Monaco to look at diamond rings and I had said no, I didn’t want to pick out my ring, I wanted him to pick it out. The next night we went out to dinner. At the restaurant, after we were seated, we talked a bit, and Enis asked me to marry him and put the box on the table. I thought it was a joke and that the box was empty so I didn’t pick it up at first. I kept saying, is this a joke?  Finally, I opened it and then I asked him if it was a fake ring. So I didn’t answer for awhile and Enis was all sweaty. At one point, Enis said something like, you still haven’t said yes. It was cute.”

She did eventually say yes! They are very excited to be getting married this June in NYC.

Vanessa shares her favorite moments from the day, “Pinpointing one exact moment that was my favorite is nearly impossible as the whole day was exquisite. Starting from the beginning, that first glance from Thierry as he was waiting for me by the altar was perfect. My next most vivid memory is my father’s speech. It moved us to tears hearing how proud and happy he was. Thierry’s best man and son, Christopher, delivered an equally touching and heartfelt speech and his daughter Vicky brought pure joy, comfort, and laughter to us all through the day. Our mass was extremely meaningful to us. My dear friend Rachelle’s readings during the ceremony were incredibly powerful. My maid of honor Tara provided us with so much love and support and an immense amount of laughter for which we were very grateful. I’m also thankful to Jennifer, my bridesmaid. Father Wagner made a beautiful connection between how our work serving and protecting others translates to how we will do the same for one another. His words touched our hearts. Also, The New York Palace and its staff went above and beyond for us in every way. Their kindness and attentiveness was unparalleled.

Most of all we were extremely blessed to have our families and friends by our side. Seeing all of the people we love and hold dear, gathered together, was amazing. We know we will never walk alone in life and are so grateful to everyone for standing by us.

None of this day would have been possible without the hard work of my beautiful mother Christine. She took my vision and ran with it. The amount of work and time she put into this day allowed us to be free of any stress. We thank her from the bottom of our hearts. “

Vanessa and Thierry were very excited about their wedding cake. She shares, “Eating is one of our favorite things to do. I usually hate to share my food, so Thierry and our guests were shocked I didn’t run out the door with our heavenly cake. Let me tell you, I was tempted! Ron Ben-Israel created unique and lasting memories for our mouths! The cake was not only visually stunning, but one of the most incredible desserts we’ve ever tasted.”

I met Allison and Ron in Central Park for their engagement session. Spring blossoms were just beginning to appear and we had a beautiful day!

Allison shares, “Ronald and I met in July of 2008 through college. We both attended John Jay Criminal Justice. Ronald was going for Police Academy Training for about a week and I just so happened to be in the classroom next door. Ronald built up the courage to speak to me and eventually we exchanged numbers and since then have become inseparable. I was swept off my feet with Ronald’s kindness, honesty, strong character, and wonderful sense of humor. I never thought in a million years I would meet such a loving person. Whenever I am feeling down Ronald is there to make me smile no matter the situation–that is one of the main reasons I knew I could spend the rest of my life with him.

Ronald shares, “On April 24, 2013 it was Allison’s 24th birthday and she had to work. Allison woke up and got ready for her day. I acted as if it was a regular day, but little did she know I had a surprise for her. After Allison finished working I asked her if she wanted to go out and eat some cake. Knowing that Magnolia Bakery is her favorite, I ordered a small German Chocolate cake. In the car, on our way to Magnolia I said to Allison ” Sooooo what do you think if I let you pick out your own engagement ring?” Allison’s face looked so confused. She said, ” Oh I would love to!” but for some odd reason she didn’t realize I was parking in front of Zale’s Jewelry Store. Once Allison got out the car she started jumping up and down and couldn’t believe she was getting engaged! She left the jewelry store happy as ever, and yes, she still got her cake!”
